About
I am a multi-disciplinary artist working in printmaking, textiles, metalsmithing, drawing and video. At present, I focus primarily on printmaking, including intaglio, photopolymer gravure, linocut and screen printing. My print explorations also incorporate textiles, in the form of quilts and garments.
I am interested in how printmaking spans fine art, contemporary craft, industrial design, commercial art and folk/lowbrow art. I seek to interrogate the relationship between these categories in my work. As an individual practitioner, I might purposefully confine myself to the category of Fine Art in a productive way, or push the boundaries by juxtaposing multiple realms of practice, challenging singular definitions of print.
I am interested in the hierarchy of these categories and how they are often associated to stereotypical class and gender norms, often erasing narratives of those who practice within their confines.
I am currently an artist member at Open Studio Printmaking Centre in Toronto, Canada.
