This soft ground copper plate etching combines both traditional etching and mono printing techniques using richly coloured ink.
An impression is taken of the leaves, and etched into the plate, to capture their memory, before decay. Additionally, leaves are rolled with colour and printed as a relief overlay.
Printed at Open Studio Printmaking Centre, Toronto.
Multi-layer monoprint.
This monoprint was printed in three layers.
Hand fabricated sheet and wire.
Bracelet, 18K yellow gold, fine silver, red garnet
Pendant in sterling silver, copper and alternative materials, 2000. Hand made and riveted with a tiny, laminated etching on Japanese paper in the front and the copper plate etching from which it was printed on the reverse. The box is stuffed with dry sage.
The copper etching on the reverse represents the original event, the print represents the memory changed overtime and the sage scent is the trigger.
